The roots of Jamaican reggae, like so much black music around the world., lie in Africa and when Bob Marley played in Zimbabwe in 1980 this led to an explosion of interest in reggae music all over the continent. The spirit of Marley, Burning Spear and the other original Jamaican roots artists continues to burn today more strongly in Africa than anywhere else in the world.
